The Art Show Opening and Artist’s Panel
The show opening started at noon this past Saturday. As the show and events progressed more people came through. I didn’t get a chance to check the book and see how many people signed in, but I will find out a number for my own curiosity. Since the opening started at noon, we didn’t have at crowd that you would expect on an afternoon evening. The food and drinks looked and tasted great, it was an impressive spread. There is five artists (including myself) displaying artwork, I included nine of my pieces. While the artwork was being enjoyed, Jared Campbell played and sang wonderful mood music with his acoustic guitar and harmonica.
The artist’s panel included myself, Erin McMahon, Danielle Smith, Andy Palmer, John Carter and Cheryl Mango. We discussed everything from the business end of being an artist to aesthetics (art philosophy). At the end, the audience had the opportunity to ask questions to the panel. I believe that this portion of the day was inspiring, encouraging and beneficial to both the panel of artists and the audience. This portion audio was also recorded if anyone is interested in listening to it.
The artwork will be up until the 18th, which is the second part of the art show-the artwork that was juried and selected will also be displayed. The panel met with the aspiring artists at the end of the event who had brought in their artwork . I think we selected twenty four pieces for the next show.
Here is some pictures from the opening…
